This notice describes how Mantl handles information. It is not legal advice.
Mantl, operated by Crest Labs Limited in Kingston, Jamaica, collects, uses and protects personal and business information supplied by buyers and sellers. This notice explains what is collected, why it is held, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you.
What we collect
Mantl collects account details supplied at registration, including name, email address, telephone number and the organisation you represent. From buyers, Mantl collects acquisition criteria such as sector, parish, budget range and involvement preference, together with saved listings and saved searches. From sellers, Mantl collects listing information, including business description, operating profile, financial figures and supporting documentation submitted for review. Mantl also collects the information requests and responses exchanged between parties through the platform, including which party asked which, and when, and technical information generated when the platform is used, such as sign-in events, device and browser type, and pages viewed.
Legal basis and purpose
Account details are held to create and secure your account and to communicate with you about it. Acquisition criteria and saved activity are held to operate the search features you use. Listing information is held to publish the listing you have submitted and to have the seller's authority to sell certified by an attorney before a listing goes live. Information requests and responses are held against the listing they concern, to deliver them to the intended counterparty, to keep a record of the exchange for both parties, and to record whether an engagement is active. Technical information is held to keep the service secure, prevent misuse and diagnose faults. Where Mantl relies on your consent — for example, optional marketing email — you may withdraw that consent at any time.
Confidential listings
Every listing is confidential. Identifying information — business name, trading locations, photographs and other identifying material — is withheld from public view. Sector, parish, operating history and headline financial information remain visible so buyers can assess relevance. Identifying information is released only when the seller accepts a specific request for information from a named buyer, and the buyer receiving it agrees not to disclose it to anyone outside their own advisors.
Sharing
Information is shared with the counterparty you choose to engage with, and only to the extent needed for that engagement. Mantl uses service providers for hosting, email delivery and platform infrastructure; they process information on Mantl's instructions and may not use it for their own purposes. Information is disclosed to a court, law enforcement body or regulator where Mantl is legally required to do so. Mantl does not sell information and does not share it with advertisers.
Checks we run
Mantl runs identity verification, sanctions and politically exposed person screening, and adverse media screening on buyers and sellers, carried out by specialist vendors. Buyers provide a credit check, which the buyer obtains from a Jamaican credit bureau and which reaches Mantl by email. Mantl validates taxpayer registration numbers with Tax Administration Jamaica.
Companies Office monitoring
After disclosure, Mantl checks the Companies Office records of the listed business and of the named acquiring entity quarterly for 12 months, to confirm whether a sale took place.
How seller documents are read
An AI model run by Mantl reads uploaded financial documents to extract figures. For some documents, identifying details are removed and the content is passed to an outside AI provider, which is not allowed to keep it or train on it.
Who else sees your information
The certifying attorney sees seller corporate records during certification. Mantl's attorney receives copies of deal correspondence and closing documents for each sale. Mantl's vendors — e-signature, identity verification, screening, credit bureau, AI provider and hosting — process data on Mantl's instructions.
Where your information is held
Mantl's systems may be hosted outside Jamaica. Details will be confirmed before launch.
How long we keep it
Documents, identity checks, messages, signed documents and records are kept for seven years.
Improving the valuation engine
Valuations and sale outcomes, with identifying details removed, are used to improve Mantl's valuation engine.
Security
Information sent between your device and Mantl is encrypted in transit. Stored information, including uploaded listing documents, is held in access-controlled systems and encrypted at rest. Access is restricted to the people who need it to operate the service, and administrative access is logged. Accounts are protected by authentication, and confidential listing material is released only through the request-and-acceptance flow described above. No system can be guaranteed entirely secure; if a breach affects your information, Mantl notifies affected users and takes steps to contain it.
Data subject rights
You may ask for a copy of the personal information Mantl holds about you, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, ask for information to be deleted, and object to or ask Mantl to restrict a particular use. You may also ask for a copy of information you supplied in a portable format. To exercise any of these, use our Contact page. Mantl responds within thirty days and may ask for information to confirm your identity. You can also use the request form under “Your privacy rights” on your account page. Some information may be retained where Mantl has an ongoing legal obligation or an unresolved dispute, and Mantl explains the reason if that applies.
Your choices
You may update your profile and acquisition criteria at any time, withdraw a listing from public view, opt out of non-essential email, and ask for your account to be closed. Withdrawing a listing removes it from the marketplace; it does not delete information requests and responses already exchanged with buyers, which remain available to both parties.
